Pump & System Curves 101 – Why a Pump Runs Where it Does
Paul West

Previous presentations have focused on maximising an individual pump’s efficiency through optimising specific speed, applying coatings and minimising internal clearances.

However, the benefits of the above are only realised if the pump is run at its sweet spot, i.e. close to its best efficiency flow. IoT4.0 and the capture of huge amounts of data will give operators the tools to do this as often as possible, in conjunction with an understanding of pumps and system and how they interact. The purpose of this presentation is to discuss and detail why pumps operate where they do and the issues that can influence that, for example, highlighting the difference between house losses and system losses and the effect of static head in the selection of pumping equipment

Leakage Reduction Based on Customer Demand
David Little

Knowing the water usage profile of a district allows improved control of pressure, improving customer satisfaction, usually reducing pump energy use, reduced non-revenue water – and less repairs. See how the traditional approach of supplying constant pressure to a district or reservoir can be enhanced to improve your results, often using much of your existing equipment. If upgrading, the small extra cost of controls will save a lot of money. All the data remains under your control minimising security risks.
